An evaporative condenser is a device that uses the spray water outside the coil to absorb the heat of the high-temperature gaseous refrigerant inside the coil during evaporation, gradually cooling the refrigerant inside the coil from a gaseous state to a liquid state.

 

 

Operational principle:


Spray water is transported by a water pump from the collection tank to the spray pipe at the top of the evaporative condenser. It is sprayed through a nozzle onto the outer surface of the condenser discharge pipe, forming a thin water film. Part of the water in the film absorbs heat and evaporates into steam, while the rest falls into the collection tank and is recycled by the water supply pump.


The axial flow fan forces air to be sucked in and flow through the coil from the top and lower side walls, while the packing and saturated hot and humid air are discharged into the surrounding atmosphere. Part of the water droplets carried by the hot and humid air are intercepted by the water collector, effectively controlling the loss of water droplets and causing water vapor in the atmosphere to be replenished with cooling water through the floating ball valve control in the system.

Advantage:

 

Low system operating costs. The condensation temperature within the wet bulb design temperature of 8.3 ℃ is very practical and economical, resulting in a compressor power saving of at least 10% compared to other cooling tower/condenser systems, and a power saving of 30% compared to air-cooled condenser systems. The power consumption of the fan is equivalent to that of the cooling tower/condenser system, and is approximately one-third of the power consumption of air-cooled condenser fans of the same specifications. Due to the lower head of the pump and the decrease in water flow rate, the power of the water pump is approximately 25% of the power required in a typical cooling tower/condenser system.

 

Save initial investment. The evaporative condenser integrates the cooling tower, condenser, circulating water tank, circulating water pump, and water pipe, which reduces the equipment such as cooling tower, circulating water pump, and water pipe, and also reduces the cost of processing and installing individual components in the cooling tower/condenser system. Due to the efficient use of evaporative cooling heat exchange in evaporative condensers, it can effectively reduce the heat exchange area, number of fans, and power consumption of fan motors.

 

Space saving.The evaporative condenser saves valuable space by combining the condenser coil and cooling tower, and there is no need for larger water pumps and pipelines like the cooling tower/condenser system. Evaporative condensers only require approximately 50% of the windward area of air-cooled condensers of the same specifications.
